Autopsy

Gastrointestinal tract

Detective Rosana Martins finds bleeding, consistent with perforations in the bowel.   She examines the blood and finds residues of Potassium chloride crystals.  She also finds ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, probably caused by the obstruction of the tract by potassium deposits.   The potassium level suggests that the cause of death was Hyperkalemia, which led him to a heart arrest.   She suggests it's important to check information about Potassium supplements or potassium excretion inhibitors, like K-Dur.   This evidence shows there was an abnormal surplus potassium that because of his impaired kidney function, he could not excrete.
It is not consistent that if the blood tests were normal the previous afternoon, the diet could be enough to raise the level up to this point.

Heart

In the inspection of the heart, Detective Martins found it enlarged, especially the left ventricular portion.  She says this is not uncommon in kidney patients, and sends you this link about that point.   He finds, of course, signs of a heart attack, which ultimately ended his life.
